LIU Men’s Hockey Announces 2026-27 Schedule, Tickets Available Now

8/25/2026 12:00:00 PM

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Long Island University men's ice hockey has announced its 2026-27 schedule, featuring a 34-game regular season slate that will take the Sharks across the country while welcoming a challenging group of opponents from five NCAA Division I conferences including the Atlantic Hockey, Hockey East, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), the ECAC and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The Sharks will play 15 home games at the Northwell Health Ice Center, while two additional home contests will be held at UBS Arena on December 28-29 as part of the inaugural Empire State Holiday Invitational in partnership with the New York Islanders.

LIU will open the season on the road with a two-game series at the University of Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 3-4. The Bulldogs, a three-time national champion, enter the season ranked No. 6 nationally, providing the Sharks with an immediate test against one of the nation's premier programs.

The following weekend, the Sharks will host Canisius University to open the home portion of the schedule on Oct. 9-10.

LIU will also welcome the U.S. National Team Development Program to Northwell Health Ice Center on Oct. 23. The NTDP features many of the top 18-year-old players in the country and represents another opportunity for the Sharks to face elite competition.

The early-season schedule continues with a matchup against Western Michigan University in late October. The Broncos captured the 2025 national championship and are ranked No. 4 entering the season.

The demanding schedule builds on LIU's recent success against nationally recognized programs and gives the Sharks another opportunity to measure themselves against some of the best teams in college hockey. Last season, the Sharks earned a statement victory over the University of Minnesota, a five-time national champion.

LIU will close out 2026 with the inaugural Empire State Holiday Invitational hosted at UBS. The Sharks will face Army on December 28 as part of the event's opening night. LIU will return to UBS Arena on December 29 for its second contest of the invitational against an opponent to be announced.

The two-game event is being held in partnership with the New York Islanders and provides LIU with an opportunity to showcase college hockey on one of the region's premier sports stages.

The Sharks will conclude the 2026-27 season at the second annual United Collegiate Hockey Cup, March 4-6 in St. Louis. The tournament will provide LIU with one final opportunity to compete against top collegiate programs as the Sharks look to cap the regular season with a strong postseason push.
