Miami, Fla. -- The Long Island University football will head to Miami to face off against FIU this Saturday, Sept. 26 at Pitbull Stadium at 6 p.m.
 
The game will be televised digitally on ESPN+.

-PUSHING VILLANOVA:  LIU hosted Homecoming last Saturday, sparring back and forth with Villanova despite a 20-16 defeat. Quarterback Ethan Greenwood went on to rush for 142 yards -- the most by any Shark this season. Will Johnson had three successful field goal attempts and his efforts throughout the game propelled LIU to multiple leads, and a 50-yard interception by Braylon Vincent gave the Sharks a 16-13 lead with 2:44 to go in the game.  On the defensive end, Rafael Fasolino led LIU with 10 tackles.

-DEFENSIVE ANCHOR: As mentioned, Rafael Fasolino led the LIU defense with 10 tackles against the Wildcats back on Sept. 19, but it certainly wasn't the first time the redshirt-senior linebacker has served as his team's anchor on that end of the field. Fasolino's tackle tally tied a season-high, not only marking the second time he's reached double-digits, but the third time in four weeks he's led the Sharks in tackles. Along the way, he's garnered one NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week award and three Prime Performer nods this season.

-NEC RECOGNITION: This past week was the first time Fasolino emerged as NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, but he wasn't alone in earning such accolades. Following his three field goals against Villanova, Will Johnson emerged as NEC Special Teams Player of the Week. Ethan Greenwood and Braylon Vincent also earned NEC Prime Performer nods for their efforts. Fasolino and Johnson join Callum Brent (who earned Special Teams Player of the Week back on Sept. 14 following his punt fake, Sharks season-high 30-yard rush against UAlbany on Sept. 12) as Sharks to have garnered 'Player of the Week' honors this season so far. 

-LOOKING AHEAD: After matching up with FIU, LIU football returns to Shark Stadium for the start of conference play against Mercyhurst on Saturday, Oct. 3. Road matchups against Duquesne (Oct. 10) and Wagner (Oct. 17) will follow. Last season, LIU went 4-3 against fellow NEC opponents and boasted a 4-1 record at home, also winning three of their last four to conclude the 2025 campaign.
