BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – After winning its third NEC Championship in five years, the LIU baseball team will play number-three overall Georgia in the NCAA Tournament.
 
As announced Monday, LIU and host Georgia will face off in the Athens Regional on Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m.
 
Entering postseason play with a 30-20 overall record, the Sharks defeated FDU on Sunday, May 24 to capture their fourth overall NEC title. Joseph Durso led the way in the victory, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, four runs scored, and two walks. His one hit of the game proved to be the decisive blow – a grand-slam in the bottom of the sixth, putting the game out of reach with LIU leading 22-8 and going on to finish things off via mercy rule in the seventh.
 
Elijah Fairchild also drove in five during his 3-for-4 outing to propel the Sharks to victory.
 
In recognition of his efforts, Durso was named MVP and made the 2026 NEC Baseball All-Tournament Team, alongside Fairchild and fellow Sharks Justin DeCastro and Nicholas Finarelli.
 
DeCastro pitched a complete game in LIU's 10-3 earlier NEC Tournament defeat of FDU on May 22, and Finarelli tossed eight innings in his team's 11-5 opening tournament win over Le Moyne on May 21.
 
This year's Sharks team features Finarelli, who was recently named NEC Pitcher of the Year and earned All-NEC First Team honors. Fairchild went on to grace the All-NEC Second Team, along with Ryan Rivera and Alex Jankowski. LIU are led by Dan Pirillo, currently in the midst of his tenth season at the helm.

*Gates will open one hour prior to first pitch and Foley Field will be cleared between games.

Parking is available in the Foley Field outfield commuter lot and adjacent Carlton Street parking deck on campus. There is no reserved parking.
