Sharks Close out Non-Conference Games with Win over Queens University

Ben McIsaac leads Sharks with 4 goals, Cameron Connolly & Aidan Zuhoski each add 2 goals and an assist

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.– The Long Island University men's lacrosse team (5-1) defeated Queens University of Charlotte (2-4) Saturday afternoon at Shark Stadium, 13-9. The Sharks were led by Ben McIsaac and his four goals. Cameron Connolly and Aidan Zuhoski each added two goals and an assist for the game to ensure LIU never trailed the Royals throughout the game.
 
With his four goals today, McIsaac leads LIU with 19 goals and 25 points on the season and ranks second in the NEC for both categories as well.
 
The Sharks and the Royals exchanged goals throughout the first half with LIU going into the second half leading Queens, 6-4. The first half goals came from Antony Tsakos, Kyle Cochran, McIsaac, Connolly, and Zuhoski twice.
 
LIU gave up an early goal only about a minute into the start of the third quarter, however, the Sharks answered with three consecutive goals by McIsaac, Ben Schuster, and McIsaac again to create the lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.
 
Senior captain, Tyler Davide, scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring in the fourth quarter for the Sharks with McIsaac, Connolly, and Charlie Hunnewell each adding a goal to secure the third home win for LIU of the season.
 
The Sharks outshot the Royals on frame, 21-13. Antonio Ciolfi and Ryan Fountain both caused two turnovers, with Davide, Stephen Kiernan, and Luke Harris each causing a turnover as well. LIU earned 12 groundballs throughout the game, Matthew Gilbert (2), Ryan Baudo (2), Fountain (2), Joseph Doyle (2), Shaun Hill, Davide, Tsakos, and Kiernan.
 
LIU ranks first in the NEC in goals, assists, points, shots, and shots on goal per game through their first six games of the season.
 
The Sharks open conference play at home when they host Wagner College at Shark Stadium on Saturday, Mar. 14. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
