Stormie Charles

LIU introduced Stormie Charles as the new head coach for men's and women's cross country teams in November 2023, setting the stage for an exciting chapter in the program's history.

In the 2025 outdoor track and field season, Charles guided the Sharks to 11 podium finishes at the NEC Championship, including conference titles in the men’s 4x100-meter relay, men’s triple jump, men’s 4x800-meter relay, and the women’s 5,000-meter run.

During the 2024 cross country season, the Sharks had two student-athletes receive all-conference honors, including Hasnae Goulamzi—the runner-up at the NEC Women’s Cross Country Championship. The men's cross country claimed the NEC's team GPA crown, posting an average GPA of 3.58.

Charles arrived at LIU after a successful stint as an assistant coach at Florida A&M University, where her organizational prowess and tailored training programs stood out.

During her time in Tallahassee, Fla., Charles offered guidance for the student-athlete development, both on and off the course. She also ensured smooth team travel experiences, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among the athletes.
