Las Vegas, Nev. - With a strong all-around performance: the Long Island deal Cal-State Bakersfield a 7-0 defeat in the second match of a spring break trip to Las Vegas. The Blackbirds made easy work of the Roadrunners: taking all three doubles matches by 8-3 scores before going 6-0 in singles play.
 
Reigning Northeast Conference Player of the Week Selma Babic continued her strong play with a wiley performance in a No. 1 singles win over the Roadrunners’ Nefeli Diamanti. The Bosnia and Herzegovina native took both sets by scores of 6-2; 6-2. At No. 2, freshman Linn Sjogren turned in a 7-5; 7-5 win over Veronica Dimas. Classmates Aleksandra Pavlovic and Taysha Blessington each earned wins at the third and fourth spots, respectively. At No. 5 and No. 6, Blackbirds seniors Stephanie Elie and H’Ann Johnson cruised to straight set wins.
 
Long Island improved to 3-2 with the win, while Cal State-Baskersville dropped to 1-12. The Blackbirds will wrap up their three-match trip with a tilt against Oral Roberts on Wednesday, March 17 at noon.
